Introduction to Me

I figure I should start a blog. So this is just a copy and paste from my about section on my website so you know who I am at the start of writing this thing.

Who I Am

I’m a web developer based in Portland, Oregon. I specialize in:

• Front-end development - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
• Back-end development - PHP, MySQL, server-side programming
• Web applications - Building complex, interactive systems
• Teaching - Creating tutorials and helping others learn

My Background

I went to school to learn C, but after working on some NASA projects I’m not so inclined to anymore. I found my passion in web development instead.

I’ve worked at several companies including:

• 4Ten Technologies - where I worked on Annex with 2 amazing employees
• mp3Car - where I’m an on air personality and make funny videos

What I Love

Basically anything that Internet Explorer can’t do, I like.

I’m passionate about:

• Modern web standards
• CSS3 and HTML5
• JavaScript and jQuery
• Open source projects
• Teaching and sharing knowledge

Why I’m Here

I started Square Bracket and my YouTube channel to help others learn web development. I believe in practical, hands-on learning and making complex topics accessible to everyone.

If you don’t have a Chas in your life (see my other post), I highly recommend finding one. Portland is a great city for developers, and I’m lucky to work with some amazing people.
